About the Role
We are seeking an Advocacy Lead to drive our engagement and influence in the climate and technology space. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work with NGOs, policy makers, and industry organizations such as the Green Software Foundation to shape industry standards related to the use of electricity data in carbon accounting, reporting, Green IT, and other related topics.
This role is based in the US and would require regular travel, including to Electricity Maps’ HQ in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Key Responsibilities
Lead our engagement with, and build relationships within, industry forums, working groups, coalitions and standard-setting bodies in the Green IT space, most notably the Green Software Foundation (where we are a member). Success will be measured in the number of customer referrals or commercial leads coming from this engagement work.
Participate in industry events, panel discussions, and workshops. This includes creating and delivering compelling technical content and presentations for diverse audiences
Drive thought leadership through speaking engagements, publications, and digital media
Build and manage coalitions to advance industry standards and sustainability initiatives
Collaborate with internal teams to translate complex technical concepts into accessible communications
About you
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in advocacy or policy related to technology or sustainability
Strong technical understanding of Green IT concepts, electricity grid systems, or environmental impact measurement
Proven track record in stakeholder engagement and building strategic partnerships
A good mix of diplomatic skills coupled with drive and urgency. An ease and natural interest in building relationships
Exceptional communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts
Ability and willingness to travel up to 30-40% of time
Authorization to work in the United States
